This article explains how to connect a Durofix RV2054-A18 to ELAM via a Smart Work Assistant (SWA) 5 Client Wi-Fi. The tool communicates with the SWA through an OpenProtocol interface over Wi-Fi. The sections below describe how to set up the Wi-Fi connection between the SWA and the tool.

The DurofixOP software is required in order to change settings on the Durofix tool.

Technical requirements:

  • SWA5 Mini Client Wi-Fi or SWA5 Client Wi-Fi

Integration steps:

  1. Download the DurofixOP software: This application is needed to configure the network settings of the tool.
  2. Configure the network settings: Use the SmartTool Manager to adjust the Wi-Fi and IP settings of the SmartTool so that it can connect to the SWA.
  3. Establish the connection: Once the configuration is complete and the battery has been inserted, the tool should beep twice. The LEDs briefly light up at the same time.
  4. Integration into ELAM: As soon as the SmartTool is connected to the SWA, it is shown automatically in the ELAM system under "Tools". From there it can be assigned to a station and integrated into workflows.

The article also includes troubleshooting notes and explains what the Wi-Fi antenna symbols on the tool's display mean. For a successful integration, follow the instructions carefully and make sure that all technical requirements are met.

Downloading the DurofixOP software and driver

Before the Durofix RV2054-A18 tool can connect to your SWA5 Client Wi-Fi, you have to configure the network settings of the tool. This requires the DurofixOP application, which is used to parameterise and configure the tool, as well as a CP210x driver for the tool's board.

Download DurofixOP:

NOTE: There is currently no download link for the DurofixOP application. Please request the software from your responsible Bossard partner.

Download CP210x driver:

NOTE: The DurofixOP application can only be used on a Windows operating system.
NOTE: Only software version 1.1.0.1 or higher is supported.

Supported tool version

ELAM supports the Durofix tool in the following tested configuration:

  • Tool Model: RV2054_A18
  • Tool Version: Wifi Ver: FSC-BW236, V4.3.7 / WIFI: V7, T24 / UI: 03

These values were read out with the DurofixOP software in version 1.3.1.

Reading out the tool version yourself

  1. Connect the tool to the PC via USB-C as described in the "IP configuration" section and establish the connection in the DurofixOP software via "Serial connection"
  2. Open the "Production" tab
  3. Under "Step 1: Confirm Tool Information", the Tool Version, Tool Model and the Wi-Fi MAC address of the tool are displayed
NOTE: If the Tool Model or Tool Version of your device differs from the values given above, operation and connection setup may differ. The instructions in this article refer to the configuration named above.

Preparation

Start the DurofixOP software. Enter the password "admin" at the login prompt.

The language settings can be changed under "Setting". In some cases the default language is Chinese.

  1. Click "Setting"
  2. Select the language under "Multilingual"

IP configuration

The following section describes how to configure the IP address so that the tool can connect to ELAM and is created automatically as a tool. To do so, the tool must be within the address range 10.42.0.2 to 10.42.0.7. The Durofix tool is connected to the computer via the USB-C port on the side. The battery must be inserted and the tool must be activated (using the trigger).

Note: Please make sure that you have installed the CP210x driver

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Insert the battery into the tool
  2. Connect the tool to the PC on which you installed the DurofixOP software using a USB-C cable, via the USB-C port on the side of the tool

  1. Press the trigger to activate the tool. The display on the back of the tool should switch on.
  2. Open the Windows Device Manager to check whether and via which COM port the tool is connected. In Windows the tool is listed as "Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge". The COM port is shown next to it

  1. Open the DurofixOP software
  2. Click the "Tool Setting" tab
  3. Under "Port", select the COM port through which the tool is connected to the PC.
  4. Click "Serial connection"

  1. If the connection to the PC is established successfully, the current settings of the tool are displayed. Even if a fixed IP address was set previously, 0.0.0.0 is shown while the tool is not connected to any Wi-Fi network.
  2. Under "Router name", enter the Wi-Fi name (SSID) of the SWA 5 Client. The default has the following format: "SWA-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX", where XXX.. is the serial number of the SWA. You can find it on the side of each device. Replace the X with the digits.
  3. By default the password is the serial number of the SWA Client and has the following format: "XXXX-XXXX-XXXX". Replace the X with the digits.
  4. Click "Router settings sent"

The IP settings can now be configured under "Device IP".

  1. Under "IP information", click "Fixed IP"
  2. Under "Tool IP information", assign the tool an IP address between 10.42.0.2 and 10.42.0.7. Make sure that this IP address is not already used by another tool
  3. Under "Tool Port Information", enter "4545"
  4. Under "MASK", enter "255.255.255.0"
  5. For "Gateway", enter "10.42.0.1"
  6. Click "IP settings sent"
  7. Remove the battery from the device and slide it back in
  8. Press the trigger
  9. If the tool has connected successfully, it beeps twice and the green and red LED above the display light up briefly one after the other
  10. To verify that the settings are correct, open the DurofixOP software again and connect to the tool via the COM port
  11. Check whether the settings in the software are correct. Correct settings can look like this:

If the connection settings are correct, the tool is shown in ELAM under "Tools".

FAQ / troubleshooting

The tool is connected, but is shown as "not connected" in ELAM
A Wi-Fi symbol is flashing on the tool's display and the tool is not shown in ELAM
  • The tool cannot connect to the Wi-Fi network of the SWA. Check the configuration settings and select a different IP address if necessary. It may already be assigned
The error "E0002" is shown on the tool's display
  • The battery of the tool is empty. Insert a charged battery and press the trigger to activate the tool again
