Flowcharts are always started via an assigned variant in the ELAM Assistant. Learn how to assign variants to flowcharts in this article.

The following rules must be taken into account:

  1. If a variant is started to which only documents are assigned, then all assigned documents are listed for selection.
  2. If a variant is started to which documents and a flowchart are assigned, then a flowchart is always primarily started.

Step 1. Navigate to the Assistant via the ELAM landing page.

Step 2. Log in with your valid user when prompted. If you are already logged in, you can ignore this step.

Step 3. When you call the Assistant for the first time, you will be prompted to configure the Assistant.

  • First select the station you want to work on.
  • For logged-in users, the system name is displayed.
  • If necessary, you can optionally select any language.
  • Then click on continue.

Note: If no stations are displayed for selection, you must create at least one new station in the Administration under Structures > Stations. Learn how to create a station in this article.

You should see the following view:

Step 4.the Assistant now loads the start form. This is your entry point to start variants or to call up documents about the station.

Step 5. Select a variant that you have previously assigned to a flowchart.

Note: You can also enter your variant using an existing scancode. The Assistant automatically checks whether a variant exists in the system for the scancode).

Step 6. Before you start your variant you can enter additional information:

  1. Serial number - If available, you can enter a serial number for your variant manually or record it with a scanner. The serial number is logged for the variant and used for evaluations.
  2. Order number - If available, you can enter an order number for your variant manually, or enter it with a scanner. The order number is logged for the variant and used for evaluations.

Note: You can continue variants that have not yet been completed at any time. Open variants are displayed in a list for selection.

Step 7. After you start the variant, the assigned flowchart is loaded.
