Notation Flowchart Steps

These article list the different steps/tasks that are used in flowcharts. In a flowchart, each step has a specific meaning and function. Each step is set up in such a way that only certain texts, documents and configurations can be used to control tools. This should help you minimize setup errors and create a clear overview in the flowchart.

Configurations and representations

In this section, the different templates of the steps are discussed in more detail. Each step is individual and offers specific configurations for the administrator in the flowchart and representations based on them for the operator in the Assistant.

Flowchart configuration- Manual Step

  • Name - Is only visible in the flowchart and is intended to simplify the overview.
  • Task- Is a brief description of what is to be done.
  • Description - Is a detailed description of the task and contains all the important information.
  • Picture attachment - Can be uploaded to support the text description.

  • Confirmation options - OK  

Flowchart configuration- Info Step

  • Name - Is only visible in the flowchart and is intended to simplify the overview.
  • Task- Is a brief description of what is to be done.
  • Duration - Is the display duration (seconds) that is set. After the time has elapsed, the step continues automatically.
  • Description - Is a detailed description of the task and contains all the important information.
  • Picture attachment - Can be uploaded to support the text description.

  • Name - Is only visible in the flowchart and is intended to simplify the overview.

  • PDF attachment - Can be uploaded to support the text description.

  • Video attachment - Can be uploaded to support the text description. The video will be played automatically in loop.

Flowchart configuration - PIN Step

  • Name - Is only visible in the flowchart and is intended to simplify the overview.
  • Group 1 / 2 / 3 - Here you must select the user groups that exist in the system. The system will later check in the Assistant which entered PIN belongs to which user group.

Flowchart configuration - Scan Step

  • Name - Is only visible in the flowchart and is intended to simplify the overview.
  • Task- Is a brief description of what is to be done.
  • Description- Is a detailed description of the task and contains all the important information.
  • Picture attachment- Can be uploaded to support the text description.
  • Tool control - Defines how the tool is to be controlled.
  •   Automatic - ELAM automatically controls the only scanner at the active station where an operator is working.  
  •   Through Tooltag in Station - ELAM controls a specific scanner at the active station via a tool tag, since there are multiple scanners used at the station.
  •   Through Tooltag in System - ELAM controls a specific scanner throughout the system via a tool tag.
  • Scanner Mode - Defines which scancode has to be checked.
  • Individual- An individual RegularExpression scancode is assigned.
  • Variant- A specific variant has to be scanned that contains a scan code.
  • Component- A specific component is to be scanned that contains a scan code.

  • Regular confirmation - Automatically when the valid scancode is captured
  • Extraordinary confirmation - Manual OK, when the scan needs to be confirmed manually because the default does not match the result and the operator wants to move on.

Flowchart configuration - SmartLabel Step

  • Name - Is only visible in the flowchart and is intended to simplify the overview.
  • Task- Is a brief description of what is to be done.
  • Duration - Is the display duration (seconds) that is set. After the time has elapsed, the step continues automatically.
  • Description - Is a detailed description of the task and contains all the important information.
  • Picture attachment - Can be uploaded to support the text description.
  • Component - Is selected because an assigned SmartLabel module is used to control the LED via the component.
  • Withdrawal quantity - Is the target quantity that must be withdrawn.

  • Regular confirmation - Automatically, when the set time has elapsed.
  • Tool Signal - Automatically triggered when the step becomes active. The SmartLabel LED is activated until the time has elapsed.

Flowchart configuration - Pick to Light Step

  • Name - Is only visible in the flowchart and is intended to simplify the overview.
  • Task- Is a brief description of what is to be done.
  • Description - Is a detailed description of the task and contains all the important information.
  • Picture attachment - Can be uploaded to support the text description.
  • Component - Is selected because via the component an assigned Pick to Light module, the LED is controlled.
  • Component removal quantity - Is the target quantity that must be removed.
  • Withdrawal type
  • Total withdrawl - Used when the module is to be acknowledged by the operator once.
  • Single withdrawal - Used when the module must be acknowledged by the operator as many times as the specified withdrawal quantity.

  • Regular ConfirmationAutomatically, when the operator confirms the correct Pick to Light module illuminates.
  • Tool Signal – Triggers automatically when the step becomes active. The Pick to Light LED is active until the operator acknowledges the module.
  • Extraordinary confirmation – Manual OK, if the operator has to continue the step manually, because the LED is not controlled.

  • Name – Is only visible in the flowchart and is intended to simplify the overview.
  • Task– Is a brief description of what is to be done.
  • Description – Is a detailed description of the task and contains all the important information.
  • Picture attachment – Can be uploaded to support the text description.
  • Tool Control – Defines how the tool is to be controlled.
  • Automatic – ELAM automatically controls the only screwdriver at the active station where an operator is working.
  • Through Tooltag in Station – ELAM controls a specific screwdriver at the active station via a tooltag, since there are several screwdrivers used at the station.
  • Through Tooltag in System – ELAM controls a specific screwdriver in the entire system via a tooltag. At the active station, a screwdriver can be activated from other stations.
  • Quantity – Defines how many fittings with status OK are required.
  • Program number– Determines which program number is to be activated.

  • Regular confirmation – Automatically, when the required number of fittings with OK status has been fulfilled.
  • Extraordinary confirmation – Manual OK, e.g. when the number of required bolts with status OK is reached and the operator confirms the step manually.

Flowchart configuration - Station Step

  • Name – Is only visible in the flowchart and is intended to simplify the overview.
  • Station Selection – Determines at which station the next steps in the flowchart must be processed.

Assistant representation - Station Step

  • Information – Displays error messages if the operator is actively working at the wrong station, for example.
  • Intended Station
  • Regular confirmationAutomatically, when the flowchart is processed at the correct station.
  • Extraordinary confirmation – Not allowed. The operator must process the flowchart at the specified station.
